Our Services

Tamariki Ora Services

Our Tamariki Ora Nurses offer whānau centred support and guidance through every stage of their child’s development, ensuring optimal health and well-being from infancy to 5 years. Our dedicated team of nurses specialises in providing personalised care that focuses on preventive health measures, including immunizations and well-child checks.

Immunizations

Our Tamariki Ora Nurse prioritises the administration of vaccines according to recommended schedules to protect Tamariki against a range of serious and preventable diseases. We understand the importance of immunizations in safeguarding children's health and work closely with families to ensure that each child receives the necessary vaccines at the appropriate times.

Tamariki Ora Checks

Regular Tamariki Ora checks are an essential component of our services, allowing us to monitor your child's growth, development, and overall health. During these visits, our nurses conduct comprehensive assessments, including physical exams, developmental screenings, and health education, to ensure that your child is thriving and meeting important milestones.

Parent Education and Support

We believe that informed whānau are empowered whānau. As part of our Tamariki Ora Services, we offer support to whānau and education such as nutrition, safety, sleep hygiene, immunisations and developmental milestones. Our goal is to equip whānau with the knowledge and resources they need to promote their child's health and well-being at home.

Individualised Care Plans

Every child is unique, and our Tamariki Ora nurses are able to meet the specific needs of whānau we work alongside with. We work collaboratively with whānau to develop individualised care plans that address their child's unique health needs, preferences, and cultural considerations.

Continuity of Care

Building trusting relationships with families is at the heart of what we do. Our Tamariki Ora nurses provide continuity of care throughout your child's growth and development, offering ongoing support, guidance, and reassurance along the way.

Prenatal Care

We offer regular prenatal check-ups and screenings to monitor the health and well-being of both mother and pēpi. Our midwives provide personalised care plans, education, and support to help families make informed decisions.

Our Team

Kylan Simpkins

(Tamariki Ora Nurse/Well Child Nurse)

I am a registered nurse and my experience spans across general practice, Covid immunisation, and nursing at cervical screening events. It's an honour to assist whanau in reaching their health objectives and creating a safe space where they can freely ask questions. Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, quality time with my whanau, board games, and camping adventures. I am of Whakatu (Nelson) and Whangarei descent.

Kayla Picknell

(Kaiwhakarite/Administrator)

I have a diverse background in customer service and administration and am always here to assist our people, our whanau, and our community. I feel fortunate to be the mother of two wonderful children and I am thankful to be part of an exceptional team.

Jackie Simpkins

(Kaiwhakawhānau/Midwife/Director)

I have lived abroad in Perth, Australia, as well as in Wales and England. However, Whakatu (Nelson) is home. I pursued three diplomas before deciding to embark on a journey towards a Bachelor of Midwifery. This led me to South Waikato, drawn by its diversity and rich culture. Serving within the realm of midwifery is an honour I hold dear. I have a passion for travel, adventures, cherishing time with whanau, and embracing self-care. I am of Ngāti Koata and Ngāti Rangiwewehi descent.

Kimai Cure

(Kaiwhakawhānau/Midwife/Director)

After relocating for work in 1998, we returned home in 2017. I have been a midwife since 2015, and it brings me immense joy to serve my whanau, Iwi, and Hapori. Midwifery resonates deeply with my soul, and this work is a sacred and special space that deserves to be honoured and nurtured with tender loving care. I was born and raised in Te Kaokaoroa O Patatere and of Raukawa and Ngāti Rangi descent.
